Music, and the love of it has imbued my family history for generations. From my mother's side, my grandfather (Roy Applegate) was a mean guitar and fiddle player. Both he and my father's father (Ernest Furness), who was an accomplished pianist, gave regular appearances on live radio (610 CKTB) in the 1940's. They were  paid $10 a song - big money in those days!

Born Into It...

This is the most recent music video uploaded to my Youtube account :

I grew up with a live band entertaining me in a special, split-level basement my father refinished for entertainment. The lower level was carefully renovated for acoustic considerations, and opened on one side via a cut-out window to a large recreational room for viewing and entertaining.

While the boys played, the wives appreciated and visited.

My father played keyboard, violin, guitar, ukulele, clarinet and harmonica. I miss him dearly and he remains at the heart of my music.

I myself also play several instruments. These include acoustic and electric variations of guitar and bass guitar, harmonica, an assortment of percussion instruments, keyboard, F-flute, synth samplers and a menagerie of other noise making apparatus. I recently acquired a solid-body electric violin for the purpose of learning to play.

I have set myself the goal of getting some of my original compositions on-line, so that they might be preserved for my children and possibly their children.

These efforts can be found on my YouTube channel. Click on the image to the right to visit my profile page.

On the left is a direct link to my first video on the channel: a rambling introduction of sorts.

The diatribe is book-ended with some loose on-the-fly guitar playing. Mostly the video is "blah blah blah".
Skip to the end of the video to check out the debut of my new guitalele!
